WHAT
IS PROJECT COOPERATES?
Funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health, PROJECT
COOPERATES is special program that has been designed to
bring current information about Prostate Cancer to at risk
men in Chicago. Based at Rush University Medical Center,
PROJECT COOPERATES is looking to develop partnerships with
interested community organizations. We are a collaboration
and partnership involving the following groups:

Section of Community and Social Medicine at Rush

Chicago Chapter National Black Nurses Association
-
Cook County Physicians Association
-
MeBain Media Group
-
Midwestern Regional Office of the National Black Leadership
Initiative on Cancer

National Council of Negro Women, Midwest Section

Real Men Cook Charities, Inc. and
-
Thapelo Institute Inc.
WHO
CAN PARTICIPATE?
· Any community group, church, or social club with
a minimum of 20 actively participating men.
WHAT
WILL PROJECT COOPERATES PROVIDE?
· We will come out to your group meeting and present
clear, relevant and useful information on Prostate Cancer.
Our presentations will be developed with your help and input,
so that the length and information are suited to you particular
group.
WHAT
DOES YOUR GROUP NEED TO PROVIDE?
· All we need is a space large enough to hold the
group meeting and a commitment to have 20 or more men in
attendance.

PROJECT COOPERATES (Communities Organizing for Prostate
Cancer Awareness and Education) and Real Men Charities,
Inc. (the nonprofit extension of Real Men Cook) cordially
invites you to participate in special training for an important
community outreach program during Prostate Cancer Awareness
Week (September 19 – 25).
African American men have the highest rate of prostate cancer
in the United States.
WE NEED YOU to help us get the word out
and help someone else.

Doctors from The Thapelo Group gather at Mercy Hospital to answer questions about heath issues for men with an focus on prostate cancer and prevention. Over 300 men participated in this event.
